Coming to a Highway Near You
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) plan to open the U.S. border with Mexico to a select group of Mexico-based motor carriers as part of a pilot or demonstration program. Section 350 of the 2002 DOT Appropriations Act requires them to assure trucks and drivers from Mexico will meet U.S. safety standards and not endanger the U.S. population while traveling on our highways.
Take Action NOW!
Contact your representative in the U.S. Senate and let them know the DOT has NOT met this requirement and you are against this program. Call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121, provide the operator with your home zip code and they will connect you with the office of your elected representative.

Tips for posting comments and writing letters
Show the connection in the issues listed below as to how they affect the safety and security of our nation. The DOT has not demonstrated how it will enforce regulations and effectively carry out this program.
Focus on how this program will affect ALL highway users. Most of the people reviewing these comments and letters will not be familiar with the trucking industry or truckers issues.
Do not use abusive language and profanity.
